Default Earth and Water Elementalist Builds

After using fire magic to death I figured I would try using water or earth for utility and support. I haven't had an elementalist for long so I don't know a whole lot.

I'm trying out some earth builds right now, but the one I have now has both weakness and blind in it. What's the point of weakness if the enemy is already blind? I was going to get dragons stomp on top of earthquake along with elemental attunement, but now I don't know if that would be good because of the amount of exhaustion. I haven't even touched water magic.

Some suggestions for all types of water and earth builds would be great, PvE, AB, HA and what-not. I just need something other than fire, which gets boring after a while.

Thanks in advance!

Honestly, I agree that blind beats weakness, bur weakness usually lasts longer, and it can help a little bit vs. casters.

I prefer to run wards and AoE condition/knockdown
[skill]Ward against Melee[/skill] [skill]Ward against elements[/skill] [skill]Unsteady Ground[/skill] [skill]eruption[/skill] [skill]Earth Attunement[/skill]

Rest of the bar can be made up with PvE skills of your choice. I usually like [skill]Pain Inverter[/skill] and ebon assassin/sniper support or the armor ward.

Consider adding [skill]Energy Blast[/skill] for nice armor-ignoring damage. And [skill]Glyph of Lesser Energy[/skill] never hurt anyone.

Water magic is mainly used for snaring opponents reducing their ability to get at the more squishy members of your party. Most water magic users will suggest bringing Shatterstone for extra damage or Water Trident for the KD effect. Though if you want to be very defensive you could always use Ward Against Harm.

As for earth magic you would normally use this for it's KD effects and as an alternative source of AoE. Whats good about earth is you have a reasonable balance of defence and utility in the form of Wards and skills like Ebon Hawk. Your elites will generally be Unsteady Ground for AoE and KD, Sandstorm for AoE or Shockwave for a spike of AoE damage. It's not unusual to get builds containing earth + air magic.

You can run wards on almost any Ele build, if you have the attribute points to spare.

[unsteady ground][ward against melee][eruption][stoning][enfeebling blood][no skill][earth attunement][resurrection signet]

Churning Earth or whatever if in Hard Mode, if you're a bit dodgy on energy consider Glowstone.

[shatterstone][glowing ice][deep freeze][maelstrom][blurred vision][no skill][no skill][death pact signet]

PvE skills or a ward or whatever in the two optionals, res is an optional aswell.

Meh don't know. Maybe Blurred Vision instead of DF? Not like you need snares anyways...

LOL PVE, look at wat AP can do now. It makes water magic viable XD. Great snare/ward combo tho , and that's generally good build with some viable offense/shutdown. But rez....meh, i'd rather have the heroes bring the rez skills.

[[Blurred Vision] came to mind, but I figured it'd be a bit redundant with [[Ward Against Melee] in effect. Of the two, I like the Ward better (it IS PvE).

About dem snares... I'm a sucker for them, this one is a real show of force imo. And it's always welcomed by my teammates

A fat snare is always good!

And yeah that bar does need Blurred...

Swap out the res imo.

And here I thought being altruistic would be nice for a change. I haven't needed BV so far (overkill much eh?) but yes, it would add to the bar's powaah.

There's just one thing - the attributes. DV, Maelstrom's durations are set regardless of Water Magic investment, while Ward needs a very big chunk of Earth to make the most of it. So do take into account BV lasts only 8 sec instead of 10, like you may have expected.

Still.

Powaah.

Ok.

For earth ele, obsidian flame is almost a must for me, and i like magnetic surge too, but also,
Ebon Hawk - Stoning - Ash Blast is a nice combo that is reasonably spammable (please note: i cba to learn how to use the build thingys so don't moan at me for my technophobic ways =])

I don't use attunements because I'm pro.

Yeah, I kinda forgot it.

You could always try a E/me Terra tank build. Link is below...

I love Earth Magic. More knockdown and defensive wards than you'll ever need, and the damage isn't too shabby in NM and PvP, either.

The following are all important Earth Magic skills:
[Ward against Melee]
[Churning Earth]
[Unsteady Ground]
[Earthquake]
[Eruption]
[Stoning]
[Glowstone]

Shatterstone is the staple skill for pve water build....combine with glowing ice will give good spiking power, add maelstrom or df then some pve skills. Or jsut use AP on everything and add a lot of dmg to kill fast. Rinse and repeat.
